Role overview

Who We Are:

SmithRx is a rapidly growing, venture-backed Health-Tech company. Our mission is to disrupt the expensive and inefficient Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) sector by building a next-generation drug acquisition platform driven by cutting edge technology, innovative cost saving tools, and best-in-class customer service. With hundreds of thousands of members onboarded since 2016, SmithRx has a solution that is resonating with clients all across the country.

We pride ourselves for our mission-driven and collaborative culture that inspires our employees to do their best work. We believe that the U.S healthcare system is in need of transformation, and we come to work each day dedicated to making that change a reality. At our core, we are guided by our company values:

  • Integrity: Our purpose guides our actions and gives us confidence in the path ahead. With unwavering honesty and dependability, we embrace the pressure of challenging the old and exemplify ethical leadership to create the new.
  • Courage: We face continuous challenges with grit and resilience. We embrace the discomfort of the unknown by balancing autonomy with empathy, and ownership with vulnerability. We boldly challenge the status quo to keep moving forward—always.
  • Together: The success of SmithRx reflects the strength of our partnerships and the commitment of our team. Our shared values bind us together and make us one. When one falls, we all fall; when one rises, we all rise.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a strategic and visionary Leader of Product Marketing who will be responsible for leading our overall go-to-market strategy, product positioning, and sales enablement efforts. SmithRx isn’t just building another technology platform; we are rebuilding the pharmacy benefits category from the ground up. In this highly cross-functional leadership role, you will define how we communicate the radical value of SmithRx’s platform to brokers, employers, consultants, and members, establishing us as the clear alternative to the broken status quo.

You will be responsible for building, mentoring, and scaling a high-performing product marketing team, bringing complex new capabilities to market, and driving greater adoption of our products and services. As we expand our platform capabilities, a critical part of this role will be navigating the narrative around Artificial Intelligence in healthcare. You will lead the charge in educating our market, building trust around our AI-powered features, and demonstrating how these technologies improve outcomes.

To be successful in this role, you should demonstrate a strong track record of scaling PMM functions, driving category creation, translating complex and emerging technologies into compelling stories, and partnering closely with executive leadership across Product and Sales. You must be comfortable operating in an unstructured, fast-paced environment and learning as you experiment.

What you will do:

  • Guide Category Creation: Positions SmithRx as a radical departure from traditional PBMs. You will shape market perception and educate the industry on a fundamentally new way to approach pharmacy benefits.
  • Own GTM Strategy: Drive the overarching Go-to-Market (GTM) strategy for SmithRx’s platform and new product features, coordinating cross-functional launches across Product, Clinical Programs, Sales, Customer Success, and Marketing to ensure successful rollouts.
  • AI Narrative & Trust Building: Develop and execute GTM strategies for our AI-powered products and features, crafting transparent, education-driven messaging that overcomes industry skepticism and builds deep trust with employers, brokers, and members.
  • Team Leadership: Hire, lead, and develop a team of high-performing product marketers.
  • Positioning & Messaging: Work with our content team to establish compelling, differentiated positioning and messaging that clearly articulates SmithRx's unique value proposition against legacy PBMs for different segments of our target audience (brokers, HR leaders, members, and clinical partners).
  • Sales Enablement: Develop high-impact sales enablement programs and product documentation (pitch decks, case studies, battlecards, solution handbooks) that empower our Sales and Client Success teams to win and retain business.
  • Strategic Measurement: Set measurable and realistic product marketing goals, monitor the progress of GTM initiatives, identify areas for improvement, and compile reports on campaign performance and product adoption for senior management.
  • Voice of Market & Customer: Conduct primary and secondary research to deeply understand the pain points of our buyers and end-users, using these insights to influence the product roadmap and prioritize feature development.
  • Competitive Intelligence: Oversee competitor analysis to understand the strengths and weaknesses of our competitors and identify gaps in their strategies that we can capitalize on.
  • Co-Marketing & Growth: Partner with Growth and Brand Marketing Teams to develop campaign narratives, establish partnerships, and execute co-marketing campaigns that drive pipeline and increase brand awareness.

What you will bring to SmithRx:

  • 10+ years of experience in product marketing, with at least 4+ years in a leadership/management role building and scaling PMM teams for B2B or B2B2C technology companies.
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business development, or similar (MBA preferred).
  • Category Creation Experience: Proven experience at a disruptive company that fundamentally changed the face of a category.
  • AI Product Experience: Experience bringing AI-powered products or features to market, with a proven ability to craft narratives that build trust, demystify complex technology, and address skepticism in highly regulated industries.
  • AI Tool Proficiency: Experience leveraging AI tools to scale marketing operations, content generation, and team efficiency.
  • Proven Impact: Experience crafting audience-specific messaging and a proven track record of successfully bringing complex new products to market and driving measurable revenue impact.
  • Leadership & Influence: Exceptional cross-functional influence with the ability to build deep, trusting relationships with Product Management, Sales leadership, and Executive teams.
  • Agility: Maturity and operational agility to succeed in a fast-moving, fluid environment and lead a team through rapid growth.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong data analysis and reporting capabilities with the ability to track campaign performance, spend, and GTM effectiveness.
  • Experience in the Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM), health insurance, or digital health space is highly preferred.
  • San Francisco Bay Area, Salt Lake City or Dallas based candidates preferred.
